Join therapy interns Sakura Matsuno and Cam Bauchner for a fascinating discussion on Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and how the public relationship of this disorder has changed in recent years.

In recent years, and especially following the pandemic, OCD symptoms and rates of OCD diagnosis have increased. As these numbers grow and the cultural conversation surrounding OCD expands, it is vital to dispel common misconceptions and myths to address mental health stigma.

In this workshop we will explore what obsessions and compulsions are, common misperceptions about OCD, specific types and evidence-based treatment options. We will discuss OCD and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and talk about how reframing one’s attitude towards OCD can help individuals work towards living a more engaged and meaningful life. Specific ACT skills and techniques will be included and talked about in relation to their applicability to OCD, Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) and beyond.

*This workshop is free with a suggested donation of $10 to benefit the Looking Glass Counseling Scholarship Fund. The LGC Scholarship Fund enables us to provide therapy services at a lower cost to people with limited financial resources.

Join therapy interns Sakura Matsuno and Michael Yeung for an engaging workshop that delves into the complex relationship we have with social media, exploring its impact on our lives and mental health in the context of today's digital landscape.

We’ll challenge assumptions about social media and understand its history and place in society. This will be a space for reflection on our personal values and priorities, while thinking critically about how our current social media usage either does or does not align with them. We’ll discuss the dual nature of social media—its potential for fostering connection, community and advocacy, as well as the darker side, including issues like sleep disruption, comparison and misinformation.

By the end of the workshop, attendees will have gained insights into their relationship with social media and will leave equipped with practical strategies for setting boundaries to enhance their well-being, especially as we navigate the current political climate and the heightened influence of digital platforms.
