Support Sessions for Issues Related to COVID-19

Somerville Support Now is a volunteer effort by licensed psychotherapists who practice in and around Somerville, MA. We are offering free support sessions to anyone struggling with the COVID-19 public health crisis.

We are aware that this crisis is taking a toll on mental health. And we are here to provide support. Whether you're a nurse or doctor working on the front lines, a service worker who's still interacting with others and potentially exposing yourself to the virus, newly unemployed or at risk of losing your job, a parent trying to juggle increased family demands, a caregiver for someone who's sick or vulnerable, or living alone and feeling isolated, we are all struggling in some way to adapt to these unprecedented circumstances.

We are equipped to provide free 45-minute support sessions over video to adults (18+) who live in Somerville, Cambridge, Medford, or Arlington, MA. This service is not appropriate for anyone feeling suicidal or in an emergency situation.

If you are feeling suicidal, call 911 or the National Suicide Hotline: 800-273-8255

We can provide general support, empathy, connection, grounding skills, and coping skills. While therapeutic techniques may be used in these sessions, the primary purpose is to respond to acute stress and provide a space for people to be heard and supported in this difficult time. This is not therapy or counseling. If you have a more significant mental health challenge, we encourage you to seek ongoing support through traditional means.

How it works:

  1. Fill out this Google Form.

  2. Use the Calendly link below to sign up for an available time slot with one of our volunteer providers. Please do this only after you fill out the Google Form.

  3. If you are able, please donate to support this effort. Our support sessions are free, but your donation will be distributed to the volunteer therapists to provide subsidized therapy to clients who have lost their jobs or health insurance due to this crisis. Looking Glass Counseling does not profit in any way from your donation, but clients in need of ongoing mental health treatment will.
