Alanah Hodges, LCSW

Alanah is a clinical social worker who received her Master of Social Work (MSW) and Specialization in Trauma and Violence from Boston University School of Social Work. She has previously worked in nonprofits, schools, youth housing, music performance groups and outpatient mental health. They have experience working with anxiety, depression and other mood disorders, gender and sexual identity shifts, gender and body dysphoria, sexual health and wellness, trauma/PTSD, ADHD, substance use and addiction, existential issues and relationship issues. 

As a queer, transgender woman, Alanah prioritizes queer- and gender-affirming care and is driven by a desire to work collaboratively with clients to address issues of race, culture and internalized oppression through the use of social justice-informed practice and anti-capitalist and anti-oppression frameworks. Alanah uses a relational, strengths-based and client-centered approach to therapy that blends dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), narrative therapy, motivational interviewing (MI) and the liberation health modality. Alanah views their therapeutic work as a tool for helping clients understand more about themselves, their connections and the world around them through humor, curiosity and creativity.

Alanah always seeks to uplift and center her clients’ experiences and expertise by focusing on their current reality and goals, maintaining a path towards a hopeful and bright future.

Alanah is working toward independent licensure as a mental health professional. During that time, she is operating under the license of their clinical supervisor.
